At the time, more than 37,500 illegal immigrants were in the city’s care, and the situation only seemed to get worse. This is not merely a political issue; it’s a matter of common sense and adherence to the rule of law. As New York State Assembly member Matt Slater aptly put it, “New Yorkers have had it.” It’s time for change, and it’s time for those who are in the United States unlawfully to leave.
