A few dozen black Muslim leaders have signed a statement calling on all black and Muslim Americans to not vote for Kamala Harris, the Democrat pick for president in 2024, on Election Day.
Imams, scholars, activists and politicians alike all affixed their signatures to the statement urging black and Muslim Americans to avoid falling for identity politics, especially since Kamala is unwilling to commit to holding Israel accountable for its crimes against humanity in Gaza and now Lebanon.
Tens of thousands of innocent Palestinian lives have been lost because of Israel’s invasion, and Kamala is no different than any other Zionist-controlled politician in that she apparently sees no problem with what Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) are doing to Israel’s neighbors.
“Although some Muslim Americans have nevertheless argued that our community must support Vice President Harris because of her positions on domestic issues or their belief that Donald Trump might be even worse on issues like Gaza, we respectfully disagree with their conclusion,” the statement reads.
“As Muslims obliged to uphold justice and as Black Americans whose ancestors experienced the worst of crimes, genocide must be our red line … we simply cannot support a candidate who participated in a genocide and now refuses to lay out any plan to end that genocide.”

The statement is one of many others from leading figures and organizations, usually affiliated with the wider Muslim-American community, that have been published recently as the 2024 election approaches.
On September 20, for instance, a coalition of leading Muslim organizations in the United States released a statement calling on voters to only fill in the bubbles of candidates who support a ceasefire in Gaza and who want an arms embargo imposed on Israel.
Ten days later, several dozen imams signed a letter calling on Muslim-Americans to vote for a third-party candidate as a way of sending a message to the Democrat Party that many Democrats are tired of the pro-Israel politics of puppets like Joe Biden and Kamala Harris. More than 130 people signed that letter.
A week after that, the Abandon Harris movement, led by Muslims, endorsed Green Party candidate Jill Stein for president. Stein, as you may know, has run many times in presidential elections and is often the chosen “protest” candidate for voters who are tired of the same old left-right status quo.
“We call on Muslim voters to support only a pro-ceasefire and pro-arms embargo presidential candidate, as well as candidates down the ballot who support other just policies, including economic justice, religious freedom, healthcare for all, humane immigration policy, reforming the criminal justice system, and racial equality,” reads the latest statement from black Muslim leaders.
The statement and the movement it aims to spark will allow Americans an opportunity to “reflect on our role in regards to sustaining injustices globally,” said Ismahan Abdullahi, a Muslim community leader in San Diego and one of the statement’s signatories.
“When we look back at the movements that have been successful in asking this country to change course, black communities have been at the core of that change and were the drivers of that change,” Abdullahi further said.
So far, 47 people from 17 states and Washington, D.C., have signed the letter with more on the way, according to the group’s organizers.
The statement was issued not long after NBC News falsely reported that 25 black Muslims had endorsed Kamala for president, which is patently untrue.
