Desperation: Oprah 2020?

Oprah Winfrey, the billionaire philanthropist who last year stated that she didn’t have “a single negative thing to say” about then candidate Hillary Clinton, is considering running against Donald Trump for President of the United States in 2020 (RELATED: Celebrities sing a song to let the people know that they will survive Trump’s presidency).

The unofficial announcement came in an interview earlier this week with Bloomberg’s David Rubenstein. When asked whether she thought she could run for president and get elected, Oprah said that she had “never considered the question, even the possibility.” Rubenstein then reminded her that Donald Trump was able to get elected without any prior governing experience, to which Oprah responded “That’s what I thought. I thought ‘Oh gee, I don’t have the experience, I don’t know enough.’ Now I’m thinking oh, oh.”

If Oprah Winfrey is serious and really does challenge Donald Trump four years from now, will she be able to gain the majority support from the American people? And if she does wind up in the Oval Office, what exactly would that mean for our country? Nothing good, that’s for sure.

When Hillary Clinton was running against Barack Obama in the democrat primaries in 2008, Oprah had nothing but praise for Hillary, even though she explicitly endorsed Obama. In an interview on Larry King Live, Oprah proudly stated that she had “not one negative thing to say about Hillary Clinton.” She went on to say that she has “great respect for Hillary Clinton,” and “Because I am for Barack does not mean I am against Hillary or anybody else.”

Not one negative thing to say about Hillary Clinton? After all of the lies, the scandals and the blatant corruption that has taken place before our very eyes, how could anybody not even have one negative thing to say about Hillary Clinton?

If nothing else, this just goes to show that Oprah Winfrey’s political judgment is extremely poor at best. Her support of far left liberals like Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton demonstrates that not only doesn’t she know the first thing about America’s founding, the Constitution, or the Declaration of Independence, but its also quite obvious that her presidency would be a disaster.

Winfrey isn’t the only celebrity who has publicly considered a presidential run. Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, who is not only a Hollywood star and former WWE wrestler but also a registered republican, told Vanity Fair that he “wouldn’t rule it out” when asked if he would ever consider running for president in 2020.

Perhaps a better known and more widely discussed announcement came during the 2015 Video Music Awards from Kanye West. The 39-year-old rapper concluded his lengthy monologue by declaring, “And yes, as you probably could have guessed from this moment, I have decided in 2020 to run for president.” West himself admits that he doesn’t have any political views, but in an interview with the BBC, he explained that he has “a view on humanity, on people, on the truth. If there is anything that I can do with my time to somehow make a difference while I’m still alive, I’m all for it.”

Will Smith is another one. Last year, he told CBS that he would be forced to run for president if Donald Trump continued talking about border security and voicing opposition to refugees. “If people keep saying all the crazy kinds of stuff they’ve been saying on the news lately about walls and Muslims, they’re going to force me into the political arena,” Smith said. “I mean, I gotta be the president… what else would I run for?”

There was once a time when only statesmen and patriots were the ones throwing their hats in for the presidency. But after over two centuries of moral and societal decay, the Washingtons, Jeffersons and Madisons have been in part replaced by celebrities, most of whom don’t know the first thing about our country.

2020 sure is going to be interesting.
