Stephen Miller condemned gender transition procedures for minors as “child torture” and “medical malpractice,” vowing to cut federal funding for institutions facilitating such treatments.
The Trump administration ended policies allowing biological males in women’s sports and spaces, threatening to withhold federal funds from schools and universities that permit such practices.
Miller labeled gender ideology in schools as “child abuse” and a violation of parental rights, pledging to crack down on educators who promote it.

White House Deputy Chief of Staff Stephen Miller has labeled gender transition procedures for minors as “child torture” and “medical malpractice,” while reaffirming the commitment of President Donald Trump to eradicating the practice nationwide.

In a fiery White House press briefing on May 1, Miller highlighted the Trump administration’s reversal of Biden-era policies that allowed biological males to compete in women’s sports and access female-only spaces.

“This administration ended the Biden administration’s policy and the Democrat Party’s policy of allowing men into women’s sports, men into women’s spaces,” Miller stated. “We are using every single legal and financial tool we have at President Trump’s direction to make it clear that schools and universities are and will lose federal funds, as you’ve seen in Maine, if you allow men to invade women’s sports and women’s spaces.”

Miller added that the administration’s crackdown extends beyond athletics, targeting the “indoctrination” of children in public schools.

“If a five-year-old or a six-year-old goes to school, or a seven-year-old goes to school, and the teacher tries to turn the boy into a girl and a girl into a boy, that is child abuse, and this administration is treating that as child abuse. He also vowed to cut off federal funding for hospitals and clinics that provide gender transition procedures to minors.

“Castration surgeries, sterilization drugs and mutilative treatments on children are barbaric,” he said. “They violate every principle of sound medical ethics. These procedures harm children for life – irreversibly. It is child torture. It is child abuse. It is medical malpractice.”

Studies back Miller’s claims

A substantial body of research has backed Miller’s claims in his speech. Several studies indicate that over 80 percent of children experiencing gender dysphoria outgrow it by late adolescence, yet medical interventions, including irreversible surgeries and hormone treatments, are increasingly pushed on young people who lack the mental development and life experience to fully grasp the long-term consequences.

Studies show that so-called “gender-affirming care” fails to reduce the heightened risk of self-harm and suicide among gender-confused individuals, sometimes worsening their distress by reinforcing confusion rather than addressing underlying mental health issues.

“Many oft-ignored detransitioners attest to the physical and mental harm of reinforcing gender confusion, as well as to the bias and negligence of the medical establishment on the subject, many of whom take an activist approach to their profession and begin cases with a predetermined conclusion in favor of ‘transitioning,'” Calvin Freiburger wrote for the LifeSiteNews.
